Camp Moremi
Camp Moremi is situated on the beautiful Xakanaxa Lagoon in the heart of the Okavango Delta, within the Moremi Game Reserve.
The camp consists of 11 East African styled tents accommodating only 22 guests. Each tent is situated on a raised teak platform and is beautifully furnished in East African style with an African teak wardrobe, luggage rack, dressing table, bedside pedestals and traditional director's chairs. Colourful woven rugs, designer linen and matching interior blinds complete your African hideaway. Each guest unit has a private hot shower and waterborne toilet located on the raised platform adjacent to the tent.
Xakanaxa is renowned as one of the best game viewing areas in Botswana. Here, where the life-giving waters of the Okavango meet up with the vast Kalahari, ancient Mopane forests, open grassland, seasonal floodplains and riverine habitats have formed, creating one of the most magnificent and welcoming animal sanctuaries in all Africa.
Shaded by giant ebony trees, the magnificent Moremi tree lodge is an elegant elevated thatch and timber structure consisting of a main lounge, wildlife reference library, dining room and stylishly decorated cocktail bar cooled by overhead punkah-punkah fans. The large sun deck affords an unsurpassed view of Xakanaxa Lagoon. A secluded swimming pool, covered boma and elevated observation platform assures Camp Moremi of its status as one of Botswana’s finest destinations.
Activities consist of tracking big game on morning and afternoon game drives by open 4x4 safari vehicle, excellent bird-watching, and exploring the Xakanaxa Lagoon and surrounding Okavango channels by powerboat. Camp Moremi supports a diverse habitat and animal populations with sightings of Wild Dog, Cheetah and Leopard being recorded. Resident species include Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Hippo, Giraffe, Hyena, Zebra, Kudu, Red Lechwe, Sable and Roan Antelope and many more. Bird watching is excellent throughout the year, with powerboat visits to the heronries on Godikwe and Xakanaxa Lagoons a must, especially in the summer months.
The camp is typically closed for the month of February.
