Domestic & International Flights

Luggage on Domestic and International Flights

From 1 September 2004 new baggage standards were introduced worldwide.
Any single piece of baggage should not weigh more than 32kgs, and be in excess of the following dimensions:
900mm length
720mm height
450mm width

Please note the maximum weight limit relates only to single items of luggage and does not affect your overall baggage allowance. The maximum weight limit is determined by each individual airline. You will be required to pay a charge for carriage of Baggage in excess of the free Baggage allowance.

Your one item of hand luggage should be no larger than 23cm wide, 52cm long and 40cm high, and its weight should not exceed 7kg.

The above is subject to change at any time without prior notice.

Please note: All lighters are prohibited from carriage on passengers and their cabin baggage on USA flights. Passengers may, however, have in their possession, normal safety matches (not exceeding 4 boxes)

Luggage on air charter transfers

Most local air charters restrict luggage to 20 kg (44lbs) per person. This should be packed in a soft bag. A soft bag is also advisable for camera equipment and hand luggage, of which no more than 5kg (11lbs) is allowed.

Some air charter companies have on-site baggage storage facilities for excess baggage. Depending on the charter company, costs could be incurred to utilise these facilities. Should the flight not be full, a more generous luggage limitation may then be applied.

Air transfers to Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe have a 12kg (26lbs) baggage maximum allowance per person.

Lost Baggage

The airport companies, and not the airline, controls what happens to passengers’ luggage from the time it is checked in until it is loaded onto the aircraft. We strongly recommend you pack a small bag with your essentials, including any prescribed medication, that can be carried with you as hand luggage. All your non-essential items should be packed in a second bag which can be loaded onto the aircraft.

International and Regional Check-in

Check-in must be done at least 2½ hours prior to departure.

Domestic Check-in

All passengers are required to produce acceptable identification at check-in.
Passengers are required to check in at least 1½ hours prior to a flight's scheduled departure time.

Reconfirming Flights

Please ensure that all your flights are reconfirmed at least 72 hours prior to flying.

Air Transfers

Scheduled air transfers

Scheduled air transfers are booked through licensed charter companies. All the flight times are pre-arranged. The lodge or camp will be advised of your arrival and departure times to ensure you are collected and dropped off at the airstrip on time.

Safety comes first and because of this departure times may have to be rescheduled at the last moment.

Private air transfers

Private air transfers can be arranged at an additional cost if specifically requested. This service is generally more flexible when it comes to flight times and luggage restrictions, however this is dependant on the number of guests and size of the aircraft. It is important to note that when combining scheduled and private air transfers, the specified luggage restriction for scheduled transfers will apply.
