Lion Sands

Lions Sands consists of two exclusive upmarket lodges in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve in Mpumalanga.

River Lodge

River Lodge is situated on the banks of the Sabie River under ancient trees dating back over 800 years. Facing due east, it catches the morning sun as it rises over the Kruger National Park. River Lodge consists of 18 luxurious thatched, air-conditioned, en-suite bedrooms complete with outdoor & indoor shower & your own private wooden viewing deck.

All rooms have mini-bar & telephone access and rooms are linked to all areas of the lodge via raised wooden walkways.

Other facilities at River lodge are a private lounge and bar, 2 sparkling swimming pools, wooden viewing decks, a secluded bird hide, private hammocks, a conference room, gymnasium & health spa, a curio shop & an indoor dining area and out-door boma.

Ivory Lodge

Ivory Lodge is situated on the banks of the Sabie River and offers magnificent views onto the open sand banks of the Kruger National Park. Each of the comes complete with en-suite bathroom, outdoor & indoor shower, courtyard, lounge with fireplace, wooden viewing deck as well as a patio with its own private plunge pool.

The air-conditioned rooms come with overhead fans as well as telephone and internet access. The 165m² suites are positioned at least 20 meters apart and are linked to all areas of the lodge by raised wooden walkways. All have breathtaking views over the Sabie River allowing you to view the game from the luxury of one's own suite.

The main lodge & entrance area comprise of a private lounge & bar, wooden viewing decks, a board-room, wine cellar, gymnasium & health spa, a curio shop & an indoor dining area as well as an open-air boma.

The lodge is simple and uncluttered. The bold colours, textures and form achieve a contemporary, Afro-European elegance that enhances the overriding exclusivity and completes the safari experience.

Ivory Lodge and River Lodge can tailor your activities to enhance your safari experience. Open Land Rover game drives, bush breakfasts, bush walks, wildlife lectures, picnic lunches, a hippopotamus tour, bush dinners & astronomy talk can all be organised and are included in the tariff.

The Health Spa & Gymnasium, clay pigeon shooting, the Tree House experience, or visits to the Kruger National Park golf course, helicopter flights to the Blyde River Canyon, a ballooning safari or a trip to Hazyview to experience the Shangaan cultural village are all additional activities that can be arranged on request at an additional cost.
