Zwahili Private Game Lodge
Zwahili is situated 200km’s North of Johannesburg and 30 km’s east of Nylstroom in a Malaria free area at the foot of the Waterberg in the Bushveld region of the Limpopo Province.
The lodge accommodation consists of three luxury en-suite rooms in the main lodge & four elegant luxury tents. There is also one presidential suite, independent from the main lodge, with additional features that create a unique encounter.
A maximum of 16 guests are accommodated thereby ensuring a personal and tranquil experience further enhanced by excellent cuisine.
The three luxury en-suite rooms embrace a true African experience in comfort, style and luxury. Crisp white pure percale cotton linen and dark wood finishes creates the perfect ambience. Rooms are joined by timber walkways, leading onto an extended timber deck.
Each of the luxury tents find easy residence within Acacia-thorn and Combretum Bushveld. The opulent interiors draw inspiration from the colonial ethos, with only the wildlife as witness of the invigorating outside shower for two.
Game viewing in open safari vehicle, conducted by experienced rangers, offer encounters with giraffe, cheetah, leopard, civet cat, zebra, blue wildebeest, red hartebeest, impala, kudu, eland, aardvark, blesbuck, jackal, bush pig, warthog and numerous smaller antelope.
This is the ideal venue for bird watching enthusiasts. There are over 300 species of African bird life in the area and you may be lucky and get a rare sighting of the lizard buzzard or brown snake eagle. The world-renowned Nylsvly bird sanctuary is in close proximity for aspiring bird watchers. Guided walks are tailored to suit individual needs and offer the opportunity to examine the smaller creatures of the bush often overlooked from the Landrover.
Excursions ascending "Witkop" an archaeological site, going back in time to when the "bittereinders", at the helm of Boer Generals, utilised this koppie as a hideout from the British for almost two years. "Witkop" stands proud in bearing homage to a period in history not to be forgotten. Experience the most unforgettable sunset while savouring an ice-cold glass of Chardonnay.

Situated just 10kms away is the 16,000 ha Nylsvley Nature Reserve, well known for its exceptional diversity of bird species, with 370 different species recorded of which 102 are waterfowl. Twenty three of the waterfowl species are Red Data listed and eight of these are known to breed here. The reserve is situated in the upper reaches of the Nyl River near the town of Naboomspruit, and includes part of the Nyl floodplain, the largest floodplain vlei in the country. Apart from the prolific bird species, the Nylsvley Nature Reserve supports a population of endangered Roan Antelope and Tsessebe.
Other noteworthy attractions in the area include the Cape vulture breeding grounds near Thabazimbi; the Marakele National Park and Lapalala Nature Reserves, the curative hot mineral springs and of course the Waterberg with its rich history and artifacts dating back to the Stone Age.
The most important towns of this region are Bela-Bela, Nylstroom, Naboomspruit, Vaalwater, Thabazimbi and Ellisras. Each town in itself is worth visiting, each boasting a number of historical, cultural and natural attractions.
